Walnut Avenue Women’s Center
Group Mentoring program
“If we are to teach real peace in this world… we shall have to begin with the children”
What is Group Mentoring?
- Group Mentoring is a childcare program that is part of our Youth Development Department programs. The group provides strength-based, trauma informed support to children, ages 0 to 11 years, while their parent/guardian is attending domestic violence support groups, wellness groups, parenting classes or meeting with an advocate in our Domestic Violence Services Department.
- Group Mentors receive training on the needs of children who have experienced trauma.
- To provide a safe space for children where they can express themselves, relax and have fun.
