2012 Accomplishments – Thank You 2012 Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence
2012 was an amazing year for the Domestic Violence Department at the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center! We couldn’t have offered services to as many people as we did without the help of an incredible group of interns. Our interns provide direct services to the participants on our 24-hour crisis intervention hotline, through legal advocacy regarding Domestic Violence restraining orders and various court hearings, and by facilitating over 10 different support groups.
The interns who complete the entire year-long internship are congratulated in January and honored for the hours of service and contributions they made to the organization.
24 Hour Crisis Intervention Hotline:
Our 2012 Hotline Advocates worked over 1,000 shifts, and answered over 1,100 calls!
Our 2012 Legal Advocates attended over 90 individual hearings, and helped about 120 participants navigate the criminal and civil legal systems!
Our 2012 Facilitators led 235 support groups and made nearly 1,500 participant contacts!
Here are some pictures from the celebration.
We were honored to work with such amazing and generous people. We are fortunate enough to have some interns stay on to work another year. We wish everyone the best of luck in their future endeavors!
Thank you for helping provide support and services so women, children, and families had the opportunities and skills to thrive in 2012!!
We will miss you!!
