We are home!

We are home!

The day has finally come. We have returned to our home at 303 Walnut Avenue. It has been 2 1/2 years since we first “left home” to make room for the renovation and expansion project. The design team made up of Jennifer O’Brien-Rojo (WAWC), Jacquie Low (Architect), David Foster (Consultant), and Barry Swenson Builders have seen this project through with amazing results.

The addition of over a 1000 square feet has provided dedicated space for the Youth Development Department including a meeting room for the mentoring program. It has also added meeting rooms for Domestic Violence services and the African American Community Health Group.

Perhaps the greatest achievement of the renovation project was the addition of the elevator which now makes the entire building and all of the Women’s Center’s programs and services accessible to individuals with disabilities. This has been a vision of the staff for a long time, to be able to provide services to all women, children and families. Although construction is complete and we have moved back in, we are still raising the funds for the project. Lighthouse Bank has been an amazing partner in the project by providing the construction loan that enabled us to continue the project while fundraising continues. Thank you for all your support.

Thank you for playing “where is the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center” and for finding us with your donations, time and talents. We are excited to share all of the changes and improvement with you. Please come by anytime to take a look at our new old beautiful building. We will be having a house warming party in July. We will fill you in on all of the details very soon. Again, thank you for all of your support.
